Kadir was born in Kayseri in 1942, and his father was one of the wealthiest men in the country and among the founders of AkBank. Kadir himself became a leading businessman in the city. He established a Mercedes-Benz car and truck factory and worked for many years as CEO and board member of the company. He also founded Coca-Cola in Turkey and was among the partners in producing small Peugeot buses under the trade name Karsan, becoming the distributor for Michelin tires.

Kadir Has established numerous business organizations and was the second founding shareholder in AkBank after the Sabancı family. In 1998, he received an honorary doctorate in management, planning, and economic education from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, recognizing his efforts, initiatives, and contributions to educating future generations

Kadir Has and his wife, Zeynep Has, established the Kadir Has Foundation for Education, with education and health among its fundamental pillars. University location and Campus:

The university campus is located near the Golden Horn in the Sibali area of Fatih, the capital of Istanbul, on the European side of the city. It has an interior area of over 45,000 square meters. The campus includes the Rezan Has Museum, named after Kadir Has’ wife. The museum houses a cistern dating back to the 11th century, which is one of the few Byzantine buildings outside the walls of the old city. It also contains the remains of an Ottoman-era bath. The university campus has received the Europa Nostra Award for architectural engineering. The university consists of three campuses:

Sibali Campus:

The main campus of Kadir Has University is located in the Fatih district of Istanbul, in the Sibali neighborhood on the shores of the Golden Horn. It is easily accessible from anywhere in Istanbul. The campus is housed in the historic Tekel Cibali Tobacco Factory building, which was used as a tobacco warehouse and cigarette factory by Tekel from 1884 until the opening of the university campus.

The Sibali campus includes classrooms, laboratories, an information center (library), a theater, conference halls, a cinema, sports facilities, restaurants, cafeterias, and the university’s administrative headquarters. Suleyman Pasha Campus:

The campus is located in a quiet area in the Suleyman Pasha district of Istanbul. It includes modern classrooms, a library, a conference hall, a sports hall, and infrastructure for laboratories on an area of 150 acres along the Marmara Sea coast. The campus also houses Kadir Has Vocational High School and Kadir Has Vocational High School in Silivri Suleyman Pasha.

Bahcelievler Campus used to be a foreign language school (Yabanci Diller Okulu or Yabanci Dil Okulu). The campus was closed and relocated to the building behind the main campus in Boston.
