The Middle East Technical University (METU) in Northern Cyprus is the first international campus of a Turkish university. It was established in response to an invitation from the governments of the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in 2000, with the foundation law adopted in 2003. The campus is located in the Güzelyurt region of Northern Cyprus and currently offers 15 undergraduate programs and 5 graduate programs, providing the same academic resources and quality that are upheld at the main campus in Ankara, Turkey.

Middle East Technical University was established in the Güzelyurt area of Northern Cyprus in 2013 as the first international campus of a Turkish university, based on an invitation from the governments of Turkey and Northern Cyprus in 2000. The university currently offers 15 academic programs and 5 graduate programs, with around 3,150 students enrolled. Over 1,600 students have graduated, and they are now employed in internationally recognized institutions and organizations. METU Cyprus focuses on enhancing continuous learning by emphasizing social, cultural, and sports activities.

The campus of the Middle East Technical University in Cyprus spans an area of 137 acres and is located approximately 50 km from the capital, Nicosia.
